Restauran Hoppy, SS2 PJ

Craved for duck rice since last week. there’s nothing that can stop us from visiting this shop in ss2. there’s a very very big 3D roasted duck model in front of the shop, same row with Yippe Cup something something. it was raining and Niel didnt bother to remember the name of the cafe =.= [good excuse]. this ducky restaurant has 9 branches, impressed.

duck

Herbal tea, RM1.50. Wet tissue, RM0.30 [wth...]

Wintermelon soup with cuttlefish and chickenfeet, RM3.00. Max’s favourite, he gave the soup 9/10. Beancurd with minced meat and mushroom gravy, RM7.00. that small amount of beancurd for 7bucks, sigh. it was good though.

duck2

Herbal roasted duck rice, RM5.00. not bad wor.

duck3

Herbal roasted duck with noodles, RM5.50. i love this. quite a big portion of boneless duckmeat, definately a good deal!

at last, after getting engaged on 5th Febuary 2008, something hit his head and he decided to propose. [duh, it was more towards Niel forcing him to do so]. He printed out “Niel Will you marry me? Max” and sticked it onto precious Jack-jack and Xun-xun’s back.

Dae Jang Gum, Section 14 PJ

I guess Dae Jang Gum (aka Da Chang Jin / Tai Cheung Kam) is familiar among food bloggers, nice place to have authentic food. Niel wanted Max to bring her there because he went there previously with his friends, and without her. Practically we love this place because of the authencity – compared to other korean restaurants. Pricy though. We went to Dae Jang Gum last week, and this is what we had.

DJG

The sidedishes! cant name them all, but Niel love the marinated jellyfish and potato salad the most. Max even asked the waiter to refill his “kangkung” or some vege. dont know the correct name for it.

DJG2

i totally love the corn. so sweet and juicy. the pork slices was a bit too hard for me to chew, gave most of them to Max. another dish was marinated pork in sweet and spicy sauce. that was heavenly good! forgot to snap pictures again, too busy munching the delicate sidedishes.

DJG3

DJG4

we didnt expect the owner to give us complimentary dishes. yeah, DISHES, not DISH. we had two FOC dishes – steamed egg and steamed fish in hot sauce. Max didnt like the fish, he claimed that there were too many bones. steam egg was good, no complaints.

total bill came up to RM70++. affordable for two extremely filled tummys. favourite dinner of the week says Niel.

Hokano Japanese Restaurant, Damansara Uptown

again, cravings from last week. we wanted to go for roasted duck rice, but the shop was closed on that day. so went to this japanese restaurant, same row with Maybank, somewhere near HSBc, CIMB bank and all the damansara uptowns. was attracted to this small shop some time ago but didnt dare to try it out – afraid that it might be expensive.

hokano

ocha is priced at RM1.00 for hot ocha, and RM1.50 for cold ocha [not really sure with the price]. free refill. i had another chicken katsu don here after having my previous one in Ume-Tei. prefer the katsu don here. forgot to snap a picture of my katsu don. chicken was crispy, liked the sweet sauce together with the onion omelet. price around RM11.00, comes together with a bowl of miso soup.

Max is still the old Max, he orders teppanyaki salmon everytime he goes to japanese restaurants =.=

hokano1

Salmon Teppanyaki set, around RM17.90, comes with a bowl of miso, bowl of rice, and bunch of stir-fried snow pea shoots [dou miao].

tamago

Niel ordered her favourite tamago. she likes everything with tamago, from sushikin to sake sushi, to genki sushi, to whatever la. Tamago Sushi, RM5.00 for all 8pieces. wraped together with avocados and cucumber. the avocados were too little, didnt realise she was eating it untill she saw 1 small piece of avocado sticking out of the sushi. the roasted black sesame and ebiko outside enchanced the flavour of the sushi. 3.5 out of 5.

Max told me too add on this statement : its TAX-FREE! no service charge or government tax, save up to 15% of tax charges! total damage : around RM37.00

affordable food and nice ambience.
